On faces and disposition. 4!

Based on true incidents. As narrated by someone.

Evening stars were glaring upon the street where moved chariots and where the high class of the city dined. That day, like any other day was a daawat(feast) hosted by Rafi Sahib of Ballimaran, Delhi-6. Abdul Rashid had received an invitation for the daawat already by Rafi Sahib, his friend. Abdul had an optical shop along the other shops that had the same business, and which stood next to each other with grace of a steady business turning their heads high. People from all over Delhi came to Ballimaran to get their spectacles made.

Abdul Sahib closed his shop two hours after the Namaz in the evening. He didn't want to be late for the daawat. Very excited to meet his friend, he reached the haveli(mansion), where his friend resided. As soon as he was to enter the premises of the haveli, the guard asked him to stop there and to not enter the haveli. According to the guard, Abdul Rashid wasn't from the high class, the so called 'high gentry'. The reason he gave to Abdul Sahib was that his clothes didn't get along with the high class people of Delhi. In the meantime, Abdul told the guard that, he had come because Rafi was his good friend and had specially invited him. Other men entered the haveli wearing embroidered kurta-pyjama's and sherwani's. Abdul Sahab was taken aback, when this incident took place and he wasn't allowed to get inside the haveli.  He was wearing his usual kurta-pyjama which was quite decent but maybe it wasn't attractive to the guard.

What hurt Abdul the most was that his friend had set the daawat only for people of high class. The entry to the haveli was given on the basis of one's clothes moreover. Abdul returned to his home, and talked to his wife Saira regarding the matter. She asked him to not go again to his friend Rafi. Contrary to what his wife suggested him to do, Abdul went again to the haveli. This time, he wore his sherwani and the guard saluted him at the entrance gate. As he entered the haveli, he met Rafi and they exchanged greetings. Rafi was happy to see Abdul at the daawat.

As everyone was seated to start the daawat, Abdul had a glass of water in his hand and he started sprinkling the water from the glass onto his clothes. The people stared at his disposition so annoying and questioned him, regarding the same. In return to their annoyance, he stared them back. On this incidence Rafi asked him, what was he was up to? Abdul replied him, that "if the entry to this daawat was made on the basis of one's clothes, then daawat should be first presented to the clothes. To thank them to get us entry to this haveli. That is what I am doing."

Hearing his words, everyone was embarrassed and sad over their actions of mocking at each other on the basis of clothes. Rafi apologized to Abdul but it was an insult to Abdul all the more, to have been questioned to meet his friend, after his clothes didn't match the high gentry invited for the daawat. Everyone was sorry for this act, and Abdul gave a lesson to everyone that day.
